01 · The Retreat

casa /ˈkäsə/ a quiet place to exhale.

The luxury is often quiet.

Arranged with enough intention to feel held, and enough space to remain your own.

Three empty garden chairs and a small table overlooking the green valley at Amaria on Portugal’s Costa Vicentina.

Each Casa retreat is one considered week, not a programmed itinerary. Morning and late-afternoon practice, meals cooked by a private chef from what the local gardens are growing, and the hours in between left open on purpose: the saltwater pool, the wood-burning sauna, a clifftop trail, a sailing day out of Lagos, or nothing at all.

The intention is not to arrive as one person and leave as another. It is to lower the volume. Fewer decisions, less pressure, and enough time for the body to settle into a different pace.

02 · The Setting

At Portugal’s wild Atlantic edge.

A coast shaped by wind and light, with a quiet you feel before you can name it.

Wide aerial view of Atlantic cliffs, winding coastal tracks and shoreline along Portugal’s Costa Vicentina
The Coastlinecliffs and tracks, a few minutes from the gate

At the Algarve’s far southwestern edge, past the part most travelers know, the coast turns rougher: high cliffs, long beaches, and buildings that keep low and let the landscape lead.

Ten hectares of pine, garden and vineyard, close enough to the ocean for salt in the air, far enough for the outside world to go quiet. Casa chose it with one question: does this place make people exhale?

Whitewashed rooms sit low. Fireplaces anchor the shared rooms, and wildflower paths lead to terraces and the indoor and open-air shalas. The saltwater pool catches the sunset over the Atlantic. Deeper in the valley, the wood-burning sauna sits among the pines.

From the gate, a 2.5-kilometre trail follows the cliffs towards Odeceixe, where layered rock drops into blue water and pale-sand coves. You do not look at this landscape. You spend a week inside it.

Amaria is a restored quinta near Odeceixe on the Costa Vicentina, inside the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park on Portugal’s western Algarve coast. Scheduled group transfers run between Lisbon Airport and Amaria on arrival and departure days.

Every Casa retreat begins the same way: with the place, and the restraint to let it lead.

03 · The People Shaping the Week

Two perspectives. One considered rhythm.

Your retreat leads bring distinct disciplines to a shared foundation: intelligent movement, precise alignment, clear instruction and an understanding of how to support the body from the ground up. Their style is detailed, down to earth and free from performance for its own sake.

Casa Retreats founder Lauren Coleman moving through a standing backbend on pale stone steps

Lauren Coleman

Founder & Creative Director · Senior Yoga Teacher

Lauren has taught yoga since she was sixteen, bringing more than fifteen years of experience across studios, retreats, private clients, workshops and teacher trainings. Her work draws from Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra.

Read Lauren’s story

As Casa’s founder and creative director, Lauren shapes the retreat as a whole, not only the practices she leads. The pace, setting, meals, visual details and place-led experiences are considered with the same level of attention.

Her Approach

Lauren’s teaching begins with a simple principle: strength and softness are not opposites. Her detailed, alignment-based approach returns to the foundations, helping guests move with greater understanding rather than force.

Through intentional sequencing, focused drills and precise cues, she helps guests recognise when the body needs support, when it can release and how attention, breath and alignment change the way movement feels. Guests learn to engage without gripping, soften without collapsing and work with gravity rather than continuously resisting it.

Even when challenging, the practice is intended to feel light, clear and considered, helping guests build a more intelligent relationship with the body that extends beyond the mat and into daily life.

Her Background

Before founding Casa, Lauren worked at Chanel’s corporate office in New York. Her attention to detail and experience across travel, wellness, marketing and design led her to create Casa: thoughtful without pretension, beautiful without noise and grounded enough to feel human.

She brings that same consideration to the practices she leads and to the wider rhythm of every retreat, from the pace and visual details to the meals, settings and place-led experiences woven through the week.

Casa Retreats movement specialist Danny Ciccolini demonstrating a lateral mobility exercise with an orange training stick

Danny Ciccolini

Movement & Recovery Specialist

Danny is a performance coach, breathwork facilitator and movement educator with more than a decade of experience, whose work includes coaching NBA athletes and other high performers.

Read Danny’s story
His Approach

He is also a resident coach at Nomade Temple Ibiza. Danny’s approach draws from functional strength, mobility, Animal Flow, fascial release, inversion therapy, breathwork and guided cold immersion. Rather than treating each modality separately, he brings them into conversation, showing guests how effort, range of motion, breath and recovery support one another.

His sessions are practical and considered, offering guests the opportunity to explore intelligent movement and recovery practices that may sit outside their usual routines. Along the way, they develop a clearer understanding of how their bodies move, where strength can be built and when recovery matters more than effort.

At Casa, that expertise arrives without the pressure of a performance-driven environment. The intention is not to push for the sake of it, but to offer tools that support how guests move, recover and meet the demands of daily life long after Portugal.

His Background

Danny’s background bridges private performance coaching and immersive wellness settings. For more than three years in Tulum, he facilitated breathwork and cold-immersion experiences while working at the intersection of performance and recovery.

He brings that technical knowledge into a grounded, approachable practice that connects strength, mobility, breath and recovery without making movement feel like another performance.

One program, shaped together.

Lauren and Danny first worked together in a private wellness and recovery setting in Tulum and have since collaborated across numerous projects, allowing them to shape the Portugal program together from the outset.

Discover their collaborative approach

Together, they create the movement rhythm of the week, including co-led workshops that bring their disciplines into the same room. Lauren’s focus on precise form, yoga and embodied awareness meets Danny’s work in functional strength, mobility and recovery, giving guests the opportunity to explore familiar movements through a different lens.

A strength or mobility session may inform the yoga that follows; active work is balanced with release, breath and recovery. Each practice belongs to the wider arc of the week, with enough range to remain engaging and the restraint to know when less is more.

09 · Questions

Before you inquire.

Where does the Portugal retreat take place?

At Amaria, a small, design-led hotel set across ten secluded hectares within the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park. The property is approximately 480 metres from a wild beach, three kilometres from Odeceixe and ten kilometres from Aljezur on Portugal’s southwest coast.

When is it, and how long?

May 1–7, 2027—seven days and six nights, from Saturday to Friday. Check-in begins at 3:00 PM on May 1, and checkout is by 11:00 AM on May 7.

Which airport should I fly into?

For most international guests, Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) offers the simplest routing without an additional connection. Scheduled group transfers between Lisbon Airport and Amaria are included on the retreat’s check-in and checkout days. Casa will provide the transfer windows, meeting point and recommended flight guidance before travel.

Faro Airport (FAO) is also an option, but transportation from Faro is not included. If you choose to fly into Faro, Casa will be happy to help arrange a private transfer at your expense. Arrivals at either airport outside the scheduled Lisbon transfer windows may also require private transportation.

Can Casa help me extend my stay in Portugal?

Yes. Casa partners with a travel designer we have travelled with ourselves, who knows Portugal deeply. Mention your plans when you inquire and Casa will make the introduction for anything before or after the retreat.

What is the weather like in May?

May is one of the nicest times of year on this coast. The hills are still green and in bloom, afternoons are typically sunny and mild, and evenings stay cool. It is warm enough to practise indoors and out and explore the coast without the blazing heat of high summer. Closer to the retreat, Casa sends a packing list and full details.

How do I pay?

Casa accepts major credit cards and wire transfers. Once your place is confirmed, your invoice sets out the deposit, the balance date and the payment details.

What is included?

Six nights at Amaria; breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by a private culinary team; morning and late-afternoon yoga, strength, mobility, breathwork and recovery practices; cold immersion and inversion therapy; access to the 20-metre saltwater pool and wood-burning sauna; a guided coastal hike; a sailing day from Lagos; a ceramics workshop with a local artist; a sound healing session; an onsite experience with Amaria’s beehives; an outdoor film evening; selected dinner wine pairings; and scheduled group transfers between Lisbon Airport and Amaria.

What is not included?

International flights, travel insurance, alcoholic beverages beyond the included wine-pairing tastings and transfers outside the scheduled group window are not included. Massage and bodywork will be available to book for an additional charge.

Do I need to be an experienced yoga practitioner?

No. Casa is designed for real bodies and genuinely different levels of experience. Yoga is an invitation, never a requirement, and every practice includes detailed guidance and thoughtful options. Some guests have practised for decades; others may be stepping onto a mat for the first time.

What does Casa promise, and what doesn’t it?

Casa does not promise a clinical reset. The week is designed to reduce decision load and create the conditions to settle through considered movement, unhurried meals, time outdoors and genuine rest.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Solo guests are very welcome, and Casa retreats regularly include people arriving on their own alongside friends and partners travelling together. With no more than 16 guests, the group feels personal without requiring you to be social all the time.

What will the food be like?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by a private culinary team, guided by the season and locally available produce. Share dietary requirements when you inquire so the team can confirm what can be accommodated before booking.

Where will I stay, and what does it cost?

Accommodation is offered across Amaria’s Suites, Junior Suites and Apartment, with king, twin and single configurations depending on the room. Prices begin at €5,000 per person and vary by room category and occupancy; every stay includes the complete retreat experience.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. High-speed Wi-Fi is available in the guest rooms and around the property, so you can remain connected when necessary while still having ample space to step away from your usual routine.

What is the atmosphere like?

Quiet, warm and sociable without being party-led. Casa is for people who appreciate nature, beautiful surroundings, thoughtful design and details with purpose. Some evenings invite the group to gather around the table, by the fire or for a film outdoors; others remain entirely open. The week is not centred on nightlife or drinking, and the included wine-pairing tastings are always optional.

How is Casa different from a typical wellness retreat?

Casa is not built around prescribed transformation, spiritual promises or a heavily programmed itinerary. It brings expert movement, thoughtful hospitality, exceptional food, nature and open time into one considered week—enough structure to feel held and enough freedom for the experience to remain your own.

Who founded Casa Retreats?

Casa Retreats was founded by Lauren Coleman, who has taught yoga since she was sixteen and previously worked at Chanel’s corporate office in New York. Her experience across travel, wellness, marketing and design shapes both the practices she leads and the wider Casa experience—from its pace and setting to its food and visual details.

How do I book?

Casa begins with an inquiry rather than an online checkout. You send a short inquiry and speak with Lauren: questions, room preferences, and whether the week feels right on both sides. The composition of the group matters, so this conversation is part of shaping it. If it fits, you receive the payment terms, cancellation policy and next steps before reserving your place.

How joining Casa works.

Casa retreats do not begin with an online checkout. Every prospective guest completes a short inquiry and speaks personally with founder Lauren Coleman. This is intentional: the experience is intimate, and the composition of the group matters.
